The Medical Education Advice Support (MEAS) is a UHL service for trainee and trust grade doctors, provided by medical educators within the trust, with leadership from the Director of Clinical Education and his senior team.
The primary purpose of MEAS is to offer a ‘listening ear’ service for doctors. MEAS facilitators will offer ongoing advice and support to individuals including mentoring, coaching and signposting to the most appropriate support function which may be internal or external to UHL. Support and advice may be related to a wide range of topics including health and career progression related concerns.
Specialty and/or site specific group meetings will be scheduled with individual appointments also available. Administration of meetings and appointments will be managed by the Department of Clinical Education using a dedicated email address and calendar. Meetings will be facilitated by a member of the Department of Clinical Education and may also include an educator from the specialty or CMG.
Additionally, Schwartz rounds and/or Team Time sessions will be organised for trainee and trust grade doctors. A resource pack will provide information on support functions, including contact details. The MEAS service has been mapped to the Midlands Charter for wellbeing.
More information is available on the MEAS padlet.
