Junior Doctors

The UHL Doctors Mess is an organisation run for junior doctors, by junior doctors!

We have a common room in each of the three sites – Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital and Glenfield Hospital – exclusively for members! Our mess common rooms are equipped with TVs with Sky, NHS computers, kitchen facilities, food, drink and more! We also have hot food delivered regularly!

We organise a variety of monthly payday socials free for members. Big events not to be missed are our annual Christmas and Summer Balls. These are advertised via our Facebook group: “UHL Doctors Mess”

Members get all this for £10 a month – one of the cheapest in the UK! To sign up for mess access, you must complete the form below. Once your form has been received we will send you the passcode for each mess. Should you wish to cancel your membership at any point please email doctormess@uhl-tr.nhs.uk.

You can keep up to date with all the latest news from the Doctors Mess on twitter (@UHLDoctorsMess).

Doctors in Training Committee

UHL has a very active Doctors in Training Committee (DiTC). The remit of the committee is to act on the best interests of the junior doctor body and has an influence throughout the Trust. The committee is formed of junior doctors (mix of grades and specialties), representatives from Department of Clinical Education and HR.

Every junior doctor must attend a Corporate Induction if they have not worked within the Trust for more than 12 months. Every trainee, regardless of when they last worked at UHL, should receive a local induction within your department area. All trainees are expected to keep up-to-date with their statutory and mandatory training.

Junior doctors: Is something bugging you? Have you got ideas about improving patitent safety. Let us know – visit INsite and search for the ‘Gripes Reporting Tool’. This tool does not replace the Datix system. If an adverse event or near miss occurs, a Datix report must be filed simultaneously.
